::The food is acceptable but the ambiance is the real star here. Warm, friendly atmosphere, very busy with young locals singing along with the indie rock tunes. You may also be pitched on poetry books by locals. I don't mind, but others might. The service is quite slow as well, you have to work hard to get waiters' attention. But all of this just seems to add to a charms of the place. Recommended.

::Fantastic ambience, but terrible service. The food is pretty good. It's owned by an author, and so they also sell books published by his publishing house and apparently if you buy three books one beer or a mezcal shot is free :). Seating is very communal although if your group is large you can probably commandeer entire sections to yourself. It's also pretty small.

::Try the Mezcal. Open till late night and the ambience does justice to the essence of Mexico City. A nice place to hangout with few drinks and quality food.

::First night in Mexico City, and looking for a hot spot with good food (not necessarily Mexican) and unique local vibe. We found it at La Bota. Mushroom soup was delicious. Roast beef sandwich was rich and juicy. Our waiter was very friendly as we struggled through our beginner Spanish. Very fun scene with locals and a few tourists like us. Great people watching and better food. Check it out.
